Presentation of the film “The interpreter” in Russia

TransLink Translation Company was the partner of United International Pictures (UIP) in the promotion of the film The Interpreter in Russia. In order to successfully promote the film in Russia, a key event was selected to connect it with subsequent events. This key event was the celebration of 450 years of the translation profession in Russia with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The promotional events before the official distribution of The Interpreter were: the presentation of a paper titled “The Image of the Interpreter in Russia” at the Maurice Torez Moscow State University of Foreign Languages (MGLU) at an international translation conference, the selection of Miss TransLink Interpreter in the beauty contest Miss Spring 2006 at the State University of Management (GUU) and the contest “I’m Going to Be an Interpreter” for graduates of Moscow schools. Such legendary interpreters as Viktor Suhodrev, Leonid Volodarsky, the representatives of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs A.B. Fedorov and V.Y. Fakov took part in the final event of the promotional campaign, the showing of the film with a press conference. Leonid Volodarsky did a live translation dubbing of the film. More then 200 newspaper, radio and TV journalists covered the event.

The result of the Interpreter project in Russia, besides the main purpose and basic mission of TransLink—to promote the profession of interpreter—was the company’s achievement of expert status in the sphere of translation, which can be seen in the requests for consultation in the preparation of articles, reports and news stories received by the company’s press service.
